Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will my file be?
PDFs with many photos or scans shrink a lot, while text-only PDFs are already small and may change little. The result screen shows the size before and after.
Will text become blurry?
Standard compression only re-saves images and never touches text or vector graphics, so text stays sharp, searchable and copyable.
What is “Maximum compression”?
It converts every page into an image, which shrinks scanned documents the most. Text can no longer be selected or searched.
The size did not go down. Why?
The PDF is probably already optimized or consists mostly of fonts and vector graphics. Keep the original or try “Maximum compression”.
